Top 5 Must Do’s During Your LPGA Stay

The Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic will be bringing the country’s top female golfers to The Colony, TX from April 30 to May 6. Everyone from professional golfers to golf enthusiasts will be enjoying the lake, the golf, and the fun.

If you’re traveling to The Colony for the 2018 Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic, here’s our best insider tips for making the most of your trip.

1.  Explore one-of-a-kind restaurants

There are so many great restaurants in The Colony, we suggest exploring all your options. After a long day of watching the nation’s top athletes, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Plan where you want to grab a bite before hitting the green by viewing a list of local restaurants. If you just can’t make a decision, we suggest heading over to the new Grandscape development. There’s multiple unique dining options as well as the nation’s largest furniture store, Nebraska Furniture Mart, perfect for an after-dinner shopping trip.

2.  Enjoy the great outdoors

If the course greens aren’t enough for you, enjoy miles of lakeside hiking and biking trails. Once you’re done, relax on the water and soak up the rays alongside 23-miles of shoreline. Hidden Cove Park & Marina offers watercraft rentals and sandy beachfront so the only thing you need to bring is your swimsuit.

3.  Save time by taking a rideshare

Using a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft will bring you closer to the game. The pick-up and drop-off site is adjacent to the admissions gate at Old American, avoiding traffic and a trip from the parking lot. Make traveling even simpler by choosing to stay in The Colony. The city has 10 hotels all within 15 minutes of Old American Golf Club. If you have yet to book, explore a list of hotels or compare to find the accommodations that fit your needs.

There’s always something to see, eat, and drink at this Creole-Mexican fusion establishment. Looking to add a brew and a view to your live music set? Head over to Stan’s Lakeview Draft House which features many concerts free of charge. Also check out Hard Eight BBQ, Rock & Brews, and The Shacks at Austin Ranch for season live music sets. We are excited to welcome more venues, as The Colony continues to grow.
