The Volunteers of America Classic will be bringing the country’s top female golfers to The Colony from June 28 to July 4, 2021.

There are so many great restaurants in The Colony, we suggest exploring all your options. After a long day of watching the nation’s top athletes, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Plan where you want to grab a bite before hitting the green by viewing a list of local restaurants. If you just can’t make a decision, we suggest heading over to the new Grandscape development. There’s multiple unique dining options like Creole-Mexican fusion, Texas mesquite-smoked barbecue, and a northern Italian steakhouse as well as a vibrant nightlife scene. While you’re there, kick back with a brew from one of two microbreweries for a truly local taste.

2. Browse stores big and small

Cool off after a day in the sun with shopping adventures at two of the nation’s largest retail experiences. NFM is more than just a home furnishing store, offering the latest tech products, professional-quality cookware and in-store events. Stop by to browse and you might just leave with some specialty chocolate from See’s Candies or a bottle from The Colony Wine Bar’s pop up shop. A quick drive down the road is the World’s Largest All Sports Store. SCHEELS is a one-stop-shop for all things recreation and outdoors. Browse over 85 specialty departments ranging from golf apparel and accessories to home décor and gifts. Beyond shopping, SCHEELS offers plenty of entertainment for the entire family including the 65-foot Ferris Wheel, 16,000 gallon aquarium, Wildlife Mountain and rollerball alley.

Be sure to stop by The Homestead at Grandscape to discover handmade and curated collections of wares, ranging from artisan leather goods to natural soaps and candles.

3.  See a show or two

With concerts almost every night of the week, The Colony is an unexpected live music destination. Lava Cantina, the restaurant, bar and entertainment venue offers up national acts on their main stage for a rockin’ dinner and a show. Every experience at Truck Yard is unique with free live music on the weekends, rotating food truck fare and a variety of craft brews on 24 taps. Enjoy a truly local taste at Beard Science while listening to regional artists. The sour house offers views of the Truck Yard stage and a selection of kettle and wild sours, fermented using natural yeasts found in The Colony. For jazz lovers, Windmills is a can’t miss experience. The music lounge, restaurant and microbrewery all wrapped into one features artists pushing the boundaries of modern jazz.

4.  Enjoy the great outdoors

If the course greens aren’t enough for you, enjoy miles of lakeside hiking and biking trails. These environmentally-sensitive trails take you off the beaten path to explore native flora and fauna along a combined five mile stretch. There’s even more to explore on Lewisville Lake. 5.  Save time by taking a rideshare

Using a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft will bring you closer to the game. The pick-up and drop-off site is adjacent to the admissions gate at Old American, avoiding traffic and a trip from the parking lot. Make traveling even simpler by choosing to stay in The Colony. The city has a dozen hotels all within 15 minutes of Old American Golf Club. If you have yet to book, explore a list of hotel discounts or find the accommodations that fit your needs.
