How to Celebrate Independence Day in The Colony

After 22 years, The Colony still knows how to celebrate America’s birthday in style at Liberty By The Lake.

Liberty By The Lake is a celebration of America’s Independence, complete with a parade, live music performances, all-around family fun and a striking fireworks finale. This all-day event is hosted at The Colony Five Star Complex (4100 Blair Oaks Drive) on July 4, 2019.


Liberty 5K, 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run

Liberty By The Lake 5K & 10K

Join the tradition of racing on Independence Day. The 34th Annual Liberty 5K, 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run welcomes both runners and walkers. Those wishing to participate at a relaxed speed are encouraged to participate in the 5K race. Registration is now open. All races begin at the Lewisville ISD Aquatics Center (5729 Memorial Drive).


Liberty By The Lake Independence Day Parade

Boy Scouts Liberty By The Lake Parade Entry

It’s a FANactical Fourth at this year’s parade extravaganza. Experience your traditional Fourth of July parade surrounded by locals celebrating America’s favorite sports teams. The parade begins at 10:00 AM from 5101 Nash Drive and proceeds west on Nash to Blair Oaks Drive, then south on Blair Oaks to The Colony Five Star Complex (4100 Blair Oaks Drive).


Family Fun 

The annual Watermelon Eating Contest is back with competitions for almost every age group. See who can eat the most watermelon in five minutes without using their hands. The winner of each age group receives bragging rights and a first place ribbon. Registration begins at 7:00 PM and is first come-first serve, event starts at 7:30 PM.

Put your taste buds to the test at the Salsa Shootout. Sample local salsas and vote which dip is the finest in the Metroplex. Sample entries from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM, with the awards ceremony at 6:45 PM. If you’re a salsa aficionado, volunteer your palate as a judge in this year’s competition. Email event staff for more information.

Keep your family entertained with performances perfect for all ages. Watch Anthony Dempsey attempt unbelievable feats of the mind and sleight of hand or laugh aloud at Dan Dan the Farmer Man and his sarcastic sidekick’s comedy act. Be sure to catch some high-flying, extreme BMX stunts and demonstrations throughout the afternoon.

Other family-friendly events include exploring the local business expo, dining at the Liberty Food Court, and playing inside the Family Fun Zone.


Concerts

Liberty By The Lake Main Stage

Multiple artists will be taking the stage to keep the party going well into the night. Local group Yar Charles will open the evening followed by China Town Band. Enjoy an evening of chart-topping hits from various genres while you wait for the firework finale.


Firework Finale

No Fourth of July celebration is complete without a booming fireworks display. Liberty By The Lake boasts one of the best fireworks shows in the Metroplex. The bold finale consists of colorful displays choreographed to patriotic music.
